In every work, the beginning is the most important part — especially in dealing with anything young and tender.
As a postpartum doula, I'm here to help guide your beginning. So, what exactly is a postpartum doula? According to the American Pregnancy Association, a postpartum doula provides evidenced-based information on things such as infant feeding, emotional and physical recovery from birth, mother-baby bonding, infant soothing, and basic newborn care. A postpartum doula is there to help a new family in those first few days and weeks after bringing home a new baby. In addition, studies have shown that having professional support through those first few weeks leads to more confidence, greater breastfeeding success, quicker bonding with baby, less postpartum depression and an overall more pleasant experience of mother/parenthood.
As your postpartum doula I can offer:
- Postpartum comfort measures for mom's recovery
- Physical support
- Emotional support
- Care for your newborn(s) overnight
- Evidence-based practical information and support
- Breast-feeding and/or bottle-feeding assistance
- Help with older siblings
- Light housework
- Meal preparation
- Errand Running
